Why Use a Dechlorinator:

Water utilities add chlorine (and some times chrloramines) to tap water to prevent the growth of bacteria within the freshwater mains system. Whilst chlorine at these low levels is perfectly safe for human consumption, chlorine is harmful for your fish. As such, it's necesssary to remove chlorine from the water that you add to your aquarium to prevent discomfort to your livestock and to reduce the possibility of damaging your biological filtration system.
